Several of Frederick Fung’s designs are worn by both men and women. A cowl draped top is one such candidate. Fung also plans for his designs to be worn by men and women of different heights. He purposely avoids use of small size female models stating that the small sample size “is not real.” Fung’s current collection of “Mod” designs, delivers more futuristic and gender bending styles that have come to be associated with this designer.


Model Madison answers questions about starting a modelling career in Vancouver.


I spend an afternoon with fashion designer Eva Chen as she chose models for her upcoming Vancouver Fashion Week Show. Her upcoming Spring collection is all about dresses. Her inspiration comes from natural sources like flowers and birds. Feathers and bead trim are used as well as ruffles and micro pleating.


The lululemon Lab, a combined retail and design space is located at 511 West Broadway. The Lab has been open for just over a year and celebrated their first anniversary in September. Community Relations Specialist, Kim Burden, agreed to give me a tour of the store and production space. She discussed the idea behind the lab and their current projects.


Marilyn Wilson, editor of Vancouver Fashion eZine celebrated the second print anniversary of the magazine at the Jennifer Kostuik Art Gallery Monday Sept 27. The magazine’s mandate to build a strong local fashion community is working. Vancouver Fashion eZine is the first places to look if you want to be informed of Vancouver fashion events.
