Marilyn Wilson – Vancouver Fashion’s First Lady
Marilyn Wilson, editor of Vancouver Fashion eZine along with creative director Renat Touichev celebrated the second print anniversary of the magazine at the Jennifer Kostuik Art Gallery Monday Sept 27. The event marked a turning point in the Vancouver fashion industry. As of now, Vancouver Fashion has a voice.
Vancouver Fashion eZine began in 2007. Fast forward to 2010 and there is a much greater awareness and a sense of community when it comes to Vancouver fashion. Much of the credit for an increased awareness in Vancouver fashion design can be attributed to the valiant efforts made by Marilyn Wilson and Vancouver Fashion eZine. While coverage of Vancouver fashion is not always present in our local newspapers, it can be counted on in every monthly issue of Vancouver Fashion eZine. The magazine has become the voice for Vancouver fashion design.
A typical issue of the magazine will feature established designers such as Rosemerie Cuevas and the Jacqueline Conoir label. It will also include new designers such as Drew William, and others who receive their first significant press coverage through the magazine. Models, photographers, fashion writers, stylists and hair and make-up artists are brought together to create memorable photographs and fashion articles. Significant fashion personalities such as Fashion Historian Ivan Sayers and Fashion Editor Virginia Leeming are profiled.
The magazine highlights independent fashion retailers and their contribution to Vancouver fashion. Fashion drawings created by student designers are routinely published in the magazine. In keeping with its mandate to support the Vancouver fashion industry, the magazine maintains a list of fashion design schools. The goal to build a strong Vancouver fashion community is working. Monthly fashion events lists are full and designers are diverse. Vancouver Fashion eZine is the first place to look if you want find out about Vancouver fashion events.

This is such an honour. Thanks for the positive words and helping get the word out about VFE. Over 300 artists have contributed since we went online in September 2007. The magazine is truly a reflection of the great talent our city has to offer the fashion world and I am proud to be a part of the Vancouver fashion family.
I wanted to make sure that those new to Vancouver Fashion as well as those who have more experience are aware of Vancouver Fashion eZine. We take a lot for granted now but awareness of the Vancouver fashion industry has grown a lot since 2007 and publication of first online edition. The magazine is the BEST reference when it comes to Vancouver fashion. Thanks Marilyn!
What a testament to our lady!! she deserves to be recognized – nice work scarletblackfashion for a well done article, photo’s are fabulous too!
