About Scarlet Black
Jannette Maedel has an MFA degree and trained as a costume and set designer. After graduating from UBC, she worked in the Vancouver film and theatre industry. Maedel then switched to fashion and specialized in swimwear and lingerie design becoming a partner in a local swimwear company. Maedel is currently teaching Fashion Writing, Pattern Drafting and Draping courses at Vancouver College of Art and Design. Maedel is the creator of ScarletBlackFashion, a fashion blog that showcases Vancouver fashion designers and retailers. Yeah, I wish I had been there, but I started a new movie this morning out in Walnut Grove, new production company new director all that jazz and I wanted to be reasonably sharp for it all, so I passed. Too bad! Looks like you had fun. You got some nice shots! Hardly wait to see what you do with a real SLR…. Which I think you have earned.

Thanks for the encouragement! So far I am just figuring out how to take pictures – the money aspect remains mysterious. If and when I figure that out, I can buy a new camera. Your fashion shoot tips and coaching at TASS was a big help going into FMA. BTW – I did wardrobe in movies back in a different life
